Professor John Azumah – Convocation Speaker

Convocation Speaker – May 11, 2017

The Presbyterian College will celebrate its 150th convocation on May 11th at 7:30 p.m. at the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul in Montreal. Our guest speaker will be Dr. John Azumah, Associate Professor of World Christianity and Islam and Director of International Programs at Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, Georgia.

John Azumah is a minister in the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and himself comes from a Muslim background. He specializes in Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations and is interested in Islamics, Christian Theology of Religions, Missions and Missiology. He studied theology at Trinity Theological Seminary, Ghana, and later obtained his PhD in Islamic Studies from the University of Birmingham, UK. Dr. Azumah has taught in Africa and India, and previously served as Director for the Centre of Islamic Studies at the London School of Theology. He has published several books and many articles on Christianity, Islam, and inter-religious dialogue, and has recently co-edited, with Lamin Sanneh, The African Christian and Islam.
