Convocation 2020 – Thursday, May 7th 

All events of the day held at The Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul

 

The Board of Governors of The Presbyterian College invites you to join us as we celebrate the life of the college and this year’s graduates and prize recipients. You are most welcome to join us in person, and these events can also be viewed via live streaming (see details below).

We are pleased to announce that our Convocation Speaker this year will be DR. LISA M. WEAVER who is Assistant Professor of Worship at Columbia Theological Seminary, in Decatur, Georgia (a seminary of the Presbyterian Church, USA). Dr. Weaver is also an ordained minister of the American Baptist Churches, USA. Prior to taking up her present position at Columbia, she served as a Teaching Fellow and Adjunct Instructor at The Catholic University of America, and as Adjunct Instructor at Howard University Divinity School. She currently serves as a Visiting Scholar at Calvin College and a Worship Grants Advisory Board Member at the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship. Dr. Weaver is also a liturgical consultant for The African American Ecumenical Hymnal project (GIA Publications).

 

We are also very pleased to announce that the degree Doctor of Divinity (honoris causa) will be conferred upon the REV. DR. W. J. CLYDE ERVINE. The Rev. Dr. Ervine has served in pastoral ministry in a variety of congregations of The Presbyterian Church in Canada, including Knox (St. Catherines), Central (Hamilton), and St. Giles Kingsway (Etobicoke). Clyde also served as Director of Pastoral Studies at The Presbyterian College from 2000-2006. At present he is a Lecturer at Knox College, Toronto, and has taught in the areas of worship and leadership. At present, Dr. Ervine is working on a writing project that focuses on building a culture of respect in the church and its leadership. We look forward to conferring this degree on him for his work in the areas of pastoral ministry and theological education.
