BIBLICAL LANGUAGES
The Presbyterian Church in Canada
requires of its candidates (with the exception of General Assembly
Certificate candidates; click for
more) two years of study of New Testament Greek or, with permission
of the Principal, Biblical Hebrew. The first year of either Greek
or Hebrew is considered a prerequisite by the Presbyterian Church
in Canada, and thus cannot be counted toward the M.Div. degree.
Students entering the B.Th./M.Div or S.T.M. programs without a biblical
language should plan to take Greek or Hebrew as part of their first
year program (B.Th. 2 = M.Div. 1) or, in the case of Greek, during
the summer session. Since the first year (6 credits) of the biblical
language cannot be counted towards the M.Div. degree, the Pastoral
Formation/Bible Content requirement is counted as equivalent of
six credits, so that there is no need to take extra courses. Students
should consult with the Principal on how best to fulfil the biblical
language requirement.
GLOBALIZATION
EXPERIENCE
All students graduating with the
M.Div. degree or Diploma in Ministry are required to have had a
minimum 10-day exposure in the Third/Two-Thirds World, such exposure
experience to meet with the approval of the Faculty of the College.
If this experience has not preceded entry to the College, it will
be arranged during the course of studies. Those students in the
In-Ministry Year who have had a previous, approved Globalization
experience will take part in a one-week cross-cultural experience
in Canada.

MINISTRY SEMINARS
All candidates for the ministry
in the B.Th./M.Div. or S.T.M. programs are required to attend four
Ministry Seminars spread over two years and scheduled on a Thursday
afternoon at the beginning of each academic term, i.e. in September
and January. Students unable to attend a seminar will be required
to do a make-up assignment. The Ministry Seminars deal with major
aspects of ministerial formation.
