Convocation 2019

Convocation 2019

Thursday, May 9th at 7:00 p.m., at
The Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul

The Board of Governors of The Presbyterian College invites you to join us as we celebrate the life of the college and this year’s graduates and prize recipients. You are most welcome to join us in person, and these events can also be viewed via live streaming (see details below).

We are pleased to announce that our Convocation Speaker this year will be the REV. DR. ESTHER ACOLATSE, who is Associate Professor of Pastoral Theology at Knox College, Toronto. Originally from Ghana, and a life-long Presbyterian, Dr. Acolatse previously taught in the areas of Pastoral Theology and and World Christianity as Assistant Professor at Duke Divinity School. Dr. Acolatse will also be giving the Graduate’s Lecture in the morning of our Convocation Day, and we look forward to hearing from her in the evening, also.

We are also very pleased to announce that the degree Doctor of Divinity (honoris causa) will be conferred upon the REV. SUSAN SHAFFER. The Rev. Shaffer has served faithfully in pastoral ministry within The Presbyterian Church in Canada, and has also been active in educational ministry within the church. She will particularly be recognized, however, for her faithful and careful service within the wider denomination over many years. Since 1997 Susan has served as Associate Secretary, Ministry and Church Vocations, and has undertaken this work prayerfully, diligently, and with a deep commitment to the wellbeing of the church and to those who serve within it. We are pleased to recognize her service through the conferring of this honorary doctorate.
