ONLINE COURSES IN THEOLOGY – WINTER 2021

Offered in Collaboration with the Montreal School of Theology

Are you looking for opportunities to develop your competencies for Pastoral Care or Congregational Mission? Are you interested in thinking about the nature of the Global church? Take advantage of Online Courses in the Winter Semester at The Presbyterian College/Montreal School of Theology. Courses may be asynchronous (no requirement to gather at specific times) or include synchronous elements (gathering together as a class at a specific time via Zoom). There are caps on the number of students, and so students will be admitted on an “as available” basis.

Pastoral Care (MST 511 – 2-Credit Course) 
Provides students with conceptual and practical skills for pastoral care in a congregational context.Taught by a Lecturer of the Montreal School of Theology. Wednesday mornings at 9:00 (EST) for synchronous portion of class, plus additional asynchronous elements, beginning second week of January.

Congregational Mission (MST 561A – 1.5-Credit Course)
Explores the theology and practice of congregational mission, exploring missional spirituality, neighbourhood engagement, and eucharistic missiology.Taught by the Rev. Dr. Roland De Vries, Principal, The Presbyterian College. Tuesdays at 10h00 (EST) for synchronous portion of class, plus additional asynchronous elements, beginning in the second week of January, for six weeks.)

Indigenous Encounters (MST 561B – 1.5-Credit Course)
This courses engages students in reading and dialogue that introduces them to Indigenous theology, spirituality, and culture—with a focus on reconciliation with Indigenous communities.Led by the Rev. Dr. Roland De Vries, Principal, The Presbyterian College. Tuesdays at 10h00 (EST) for synchronous portion of class, plus additional asynchronous element. Beginning on February 23rd for 6 weeks.

Global Christianity (3-Credit Course)
Explores the history and current theological frameworks of the global church, with a view to understanding how this is important for ministry in the Canadian context. Taught by the Rev. Dr. Jesse Zink, Principal, The Montreal Diocesan Theological College. Beginning on January 13th, Wednesday evenings at 7:15 p.m.

$200 (1.5-Credit Courses)

REQUIREMENTS: Involvement in the Church and previous undergraduate degree. There will also be applications questions particular to each course, given the nature and requirements of each.
