General Assembly Certificate (C.G.A.)
The General Assembly Certificate is designed for mature students wishing to prepare for ministry, but who have not completed the standard qualifying academic programs.
Candidates lacking the prerequisite university undergraduate degree may apply for a General Assembly Special Course.
When an application is approved, the General Assembly assigns the candidate 2 or 4 semesters of university Arts studies, to be completed with a minimum B average, followed by 6 semesters of theological study in the M.Div. program of a college of The Presbyterian Church in Canada. In some cases, the candidate’s previous studies may count towards the Arts requirement.
The Education and Reception Committee responsible for candidates taking the General Assembly Certificate meets once in the fall and once in the spring so prospective candidates are advised to contact the office of Church, Ministry and Vocation as early as possible. Please see the link below.
Candidates must be between 35 and 60 years of age to qualify.
